Radegast v2.51

3D Scene Window of Radegast

It’s time for another Radegast release! This time we are proud to release version v2.51 which has been a major undertaking with over 200 changes to optimize and improve performance, threading, and memory use. The underlying LibreMetaverse has undergone some major overhauling to threading and memory use and has been modernized quite a bit.

Some of the changes:

  • CoreJ2K now uses significantly less RAM and image decoding/encoding has seen a 3x increase in speed.
  • Complete AISv3 Inventory support, better handling of Inventory and Appearance
  • Complete rewrite of 3D mode to include a shader-based rendering path (Work in progress) but many of the crashes should be resolved and it no longer eats all system memory.
  • Object tab has been improved and does not deadlock anymore.
  • Preliminary region crossing and multi-region support
  • Better resilience to network issues.
  • Fix a UI issue where Linux users haven’t installed an emoji font and never reported that there was a problem on the bug tracker but complain loudly elsewhere about it.
  • There’s more but I can’t remember right now. 🙂

You can find downloads here. Generally, most Windows users will want this download for 64-bit Intel processors right here. As always, you can report any issues you find on the issue tracker.
