Startup issues on openSUSE 15.2

I have two systems, both are running openSUSE Leap 15.2 with all updates applied. on BOTH I can not start Radegast 2.32 locally, but when I use ssh to connect from one of them to the other one, and then run radegast through the forwarded X11 provided by ssh it works just fine... opensuse Leap 15.2 comes with mono 6.8.0, other mono apps work fine (but I don't have any with a GUI to test)...

    Additional detail; this affects other mono apps with GUI as well. Will file bug with openSUSE.
