Radegast 2.42 is released

Radegast 2.42 Released

It's been a little while, hasn't it? Well, there's a nine piping HOT release of Radegast fresh out of the oven and ready for your consumtion. This update contains mainly updates to the underlying LibreMetaverse library including numerous performance improvements by yours truely and a nice contribution from Linden Lab. Many bugs and bottlenecks were fixed. A new fully-managed JPEG2000 coded was developed (CoreJ2K, the first opensource fully-compliant C# JPEG2000 Part 1 library.) Multithreading support has been improved, and we now have ARM64 support for new low-powered Windows and Linux PCs. Inventory support for PBR textures and Environmental Settings was added, with more along those lines on the way.

Note that 2.42 has not been codesigned. New rules for codesigning went into effect in 2023 and codesigning certificates have tripled in price. So on Windows, you may need to take extra steps to install the program. Also note that Windows Defender has been known to erroneously flag Radegast Installer as containing Bearfoos.A! Trojan virus. It does not. This is a false positive, and if you encounter this, I would encourage submitting to Windows for verification, and as always, I make it as simple as possible to compile the program yourself if you feel sufficiently untrusting of me.

There is more in the works but did not want to withhold an update since it has been almost a year since the last one. Working on WebRTC voice support and a few other things such as shader-based 3D mode that doesn't crash and a complete GUI overhaul which will free us from these Windows.Forms shackles and bring us back in like with .NET cross-platform support. Linux and Mac users will love it!
